Application Development & Technical Service (ADTS) Engineer

The ADTS Engineer will be responsible for recommending appropriate engineered materials and optimizing processes and conditions for customer applications. Additionally, the Engineer may be responsible for developing new applications or product launch testing plans and procedures, data analysis, and communication of results. The candidate will also participate in resolving customer complaints as needed. Position based in Turkey, close to our SEM Istanbul manufacturing location (Esenyurt).

Key Responsibilities:

• Recommend suitable engineered materials for customer applications.
• Development of new application or product launch testing plans and procedures.
• Participate in the resolution of customer complaints.
• Travel up to 60% within Europe, mainly in Turkey.

 Essential Functions

• Ability to interview and document customer application needs
• Communicate effectively and provide material / development recommendations by conducting core team reviews
• Create product part, mold tooling and processing / troubleshooting literature for each product line
• Attend process trials of new and existing products and document feedback
• Engage customers on quality issues as well as process and technology questions
• Construct presentations and provide processing and design training to the customer
• Additional support as needed to internal customers – Sales, Product Management, Technology, Manufacturing.
• Familiarization of current and legacy product portfolio
• Injection mold and extrude parts for internal and commercial needs
• Work with cross-functional teams to identify new material applications and markets
• Perform process optimization studies
• Other duties as assigned

 QUALIFICATIONS:

 Education and Experience

• Bachelors in Plastics Engineering, polymer science, chemistry or related Engineering field required. 
• Advanced degree or experience a plus
• 3+ year’s related experience (including internship/co-op experience) preferred
• Injection molding, extrusion, blow molding, thermoforming experience a plus

Technical Competence

• Understanding of plastics materials and processing (injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, etc.)
• Capability to think outside the box and work on cutting edge concepts
• Performs work with speed and accuracy
• Adheres to internal Avient policies and rules
• Interprets Technical Data sheets (TDS) / Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and provides proper instruction
• Proficiency with CAE (SolidWorks, Moldflow and FEA) software is a plus

 Leadership / Communication Skills

• Strong communication skills in English required, both oral and written (technical and non-technical)
• Able to present ideas and results in a logical manner
• Receptive to ideas and feedback
• Responds to emails/calls and provides detailed reports in appropriate fashion and timeframe
• Understands project purpose and commitment required
• Works seamlessly with others without difficulty
