About the Role

At Özbilim, we design and manufacture cutting room automation solutions for the apparel industry, serving customers in over 60 countries worldwide. We manage the entire process in-house — from mechanical design to software and production.

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who will actively contribute to product development, improve existing machines, and help shape the future of our design approach.

This role goes beyond technical drawing. You will be expected to analyze, redesign, and develop machines with a strong focus on real-world performance, manufacturability, and usability.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and improve existing machine designs
• Develop new machine concepts and define product architecture
• Balance performance, cost, and manufacturability during design
• Collaborate closely with a technical draftsman and mechanical engineer
• Work in coordination with production, assembly, and service teams
• Contribute to the development of design standards and processes

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 7 years of experience in mechanical design
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (servo systems, linear motion, power transmission, etc.)
• Good understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, welding, etc.)
• Solid knowledge of technical drawings, tolerancing, and assemblies
• Strong problem-solving and system thinking skills
• Hands-on, practical mindset with interest in real-world applications
• English proficiency: Minimum B2 (Upper-Intermediate) – must be able to actively communicate in meetings and technical discussions
• No travel restrictions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in industrial machinery or automation
• Experience in full product development cycle (concept › prototype › production)
• Experience working with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, automation)
• Understanding of ergonomics and user-oriented design
